Muddy Paws Goes Back to School
At first glance caring for and walking dogs (and other furry people) as a business is a pretty simple proposition. If you keep them happy and keep them safe then you’re doing OK. Of course that’s only true on the good days; when things are more challenging it pays to have a strong body of knowledge and training to compliment your experience.
That challenge might be a simple First Aid problem that needs to be dealt with straight away or aggressive behaviour within a walking group which requires management and understand to ensure the wider welfare of all the dogs in your care.
It’s with this kind of situation in mind that we’ve decided to invest in the training of all Muddy Paws Bath walkers by using the Compass Education Professional Dog Walker Diploma.
Muddy Paws Bath founder Claire Mills recently undertook the Diploma to add to her knowledge and also to test it for other staff. We’re delighted to report that she achieved a Distinction for her 84% mark a qualified to become a full member of the International Society of Animal Professionals.
The course is based on Distance Learning with support from a Course Tutor. It was divided into 6 modules; all of them very challenging!
The modules were:
- Canine Anatomy
- Canine Form and Function
- Canine Body Language
- Canine Law
- Canine First Aid
- Canine Aggression
Each module was covered by a broad range of written material and of course included an exam after each one!
It gave a very good insight into all aspects of dog care, physiology, psychology and the vital elements of dog law that all walkers should be aware of and understand.
